VOLUNTEERS NEEDED FRIDAY, JULY 16TH TO WORK ON THE HORSESHOE PRAIRIE GARDEN. PLEASE MEET IN THE BACK OF TOWNSHIP HALL AT 6:00PM AND BRING YOUR GARDENING GLOVES. THANK YOU FOR YOUR ASSISTANCE.

Orange Township is seeking volunteers for work on a garden project. The Township’s “Horseshoe Prairie Garden” (located near Township Hall Park on the SW corner of Orange and Old State) has a variety of prairie plants. The garden was planted in May of 2003, originally as a three-year experiment to evaluate various methods of installing and maintaining a prairie garden.

The Township is currently gauging interest from community groups to assist with maintenance of the garden. The Master Gardeners of Delaware County would conduct a training session for those interested in serving as the core group of volunteers/leaders of the gardening project. These dedicated individuals could then work with other volunteers for on-going maintenance (typically April-October). The Township would supply garden tools, mulch for the path, and weed-sprays as appropriate. The Prairie Garden Volunteer Council would maintain the garden.

Please contact Michelle Eckels at Mickelle@resourceinternational.com with questions or to volunteer your time.

Thank you for your consideration working on this project.
