Orange Township by resolution will use the recommendation of MORPC to set the date of Halloween each year.
MORPC has set the recommended “Trick-or-Treat” dates for Central Ohio communities for the next few years. In a resolution approved by the Commission, the following formula determines the dates: if Halloween, October 31, falls on a Friday, Saturday or Sunday, then Trick-or-Treat will be held the prior Thursday. If Halloween falls on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday, then Trick-or-Treat will be held on that day.
The resolution further states, that in the event of inclement weather, Trick-or-Treat will remain on the unified date and parents will be encouraged to exercise judgment in allowing children to participate.
Keeping to this formula, the dates for Trick-or-Treat for 2017 - 2019 are as follows:
“MORPC is a proponent of pedestrian safety and will continue to promote the importance of safety during Trick-or-Treat, rain or shine,” said William Murdock, MORPC Executive Director. “We will place information regarding Trick-or-Treat on our website and social media. We are also encouraging our local communities to do the same.”
