AEP Ohio will soon begin rolling out and installing smart meters

AEP Ohio will soon begin rolling out and installing smart meters for all residents that are on their system in the Lewis Center area.
These Smart Meters provide multiple benefits to their customers:
  • During a storm, AEP Ohio will have the ability to ping the smart meter to know if a resident still has power—helping to determine where the outage issue may be centralized, and leading to a faster restoration time.
  • Smart meters send all electric usage data to AEP Ohio throughout the day—eliminating the need to access your property for meter reading and simplifying the billing process by doing away with estimated billing.
  • Enables new features and technology that will help customers manage their energy usage from a smart phone, tablet and/or laptop.
All customers receiving a smart meter will be notified by mail and phone approximately 10 days in advance of the meter exchange. The installation process is simple and quick, with a brief power disruption of only a few minutes. The installers will inform the resident upon their arrival for the installation, and place a door-hanger upon conclusion.

Below is a quick link to the AEP website that will share more information on the Smart Meter installation initiative.
